Consulting services

It's about ensuring service delivery

MetGovis boasts a proud track record providing project-management support to various public-sector projects across the country. Over time, the company has assembled a team of skilled personnel who collectively demonstrate the experience, insight, capacity-building and programme-evaluation skills to make a difference in local government.

Consulting capabilities include:

Rating and valuation consultancy

MetGovis provides specialist consultancy services on municipal rating and valuation issues. Our services are offered to all levels of government – national, provincial and municipal – as well as ratepayer associations and other interested stakeholders.

General Valuation project management

MetGovis provides municipalities with independent project management support for their General Valuation projects. Our background on the legislative framework as well as our hands-on operational experience makes MetGovis an ideal choice for the ‘end to end’ management of this technical work from the development of bid specifications through to project close-out.

Revenue performance audit

Enabling a municipality to establish the correctness and completeness of its billing schedule is a core delivery item for MetGovis. The revenue audit service supports municipal management decisions regarding incomplete billing, arrears and bad debts. MetGovis uses spatial reporting to reveal billing inconsistencies so that corrective action may be implemented by the municipality.

Government debt audit

The recovery of Government debt is a major challenge for many municipalities, often with substantial sums owed by various government departments. MetGovis is able to reconcile Government’s asset registers to generate valuation-roll and financial-data exemption reports which indicate inconsistencies between the respective data sets. Municipalities and the respective departments can use this information to implement remedial action.

Data cleansing

Our technical support capabilities and thorough understanding of property-related data enables MetGovis to provide data-scrubbing support to resolve discrepancies within municipal data sets.

IT consultancy

MetGovis assists mainly municipal clients through either consultancy or hands-on support to troubleshoot and resolve IT-related problems. When the client does not have the capacity to perform certain of their IT tasks, our staff are assigned to perform these duties. MetGovis helps clients research, plan and execute IT-related projects. A structured skills transfer programme is an integral part of this process.

Auditor-General

MetGovis has worked extensively with the Auditor-General to develop a comprehensive MPRA-compliancy checklist. This support has proven to be invaluable for municipalities preparing for financial year-end visits by the Auditor-General.

Training

MetGovis provides relevant and applicable training courses covering municipal valuation and rating through the MetVal system. The objective is to build municipal capacity through structured skills transfer. MetGovis offers Levels 1, 2 and 3 courses to accommodate introductory through to advanced levels of competency.
