As Executive Mayor of Cape Agulhas Municipality it is my pleasure to announce that the Auditor General of South Africa, has expressed the 7th consecutive unqualified audit opinion with no findings, also known as a ’clean audit’, to the Cape Agulhas Municipality. This year I am extremely proud of this achievement especially in the light of the global pandemic. I would like to thank the previous Municipal Manager, Mr Dean O’Neill, our current Municipal Manager, Mr Eben Phillips, the Director Finance and IT, Mr Hannes van Biljon, the Head of Internal Audit, Mr Blackie Swart and all other officials who played their respective parts in ensuring this achievement.
Trust in the administration of any organisation is of paramount importance and this is reflecting in the number of investors who have shown an interest in investing in Cape Agulhas Municipality. In the last three years, we have invested significantly in capital projects, including upgrades to our ageing infrastructure, in order to create an environment that is conducive to attracting potential economic investments and development, and we are starting to reap the benefits of this.
We acknowledge that there is always room for improvement, and we are continuously striving to improve service delivery and enhance the image of Africa’s most Southern Municipality.
